IBIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH

Briggs Sherwood, born in Wilson, North Carolina, attended North Carolina State University and earned a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture in 1974. After serving his apprenticeship in Wilson, he moved to Asheville to begin his architectural career. Over the past thirty years, he has worked with three distinguished firms as project architect, and has developed considerable expertise in programming, planning, construction documentation, specifications, construction administration, cost estimating, marketing, and overall coordination of projects with clients, engineering staff, and building contractors.

His years of wide-ranging experience inform his architectural approach through the creation of thorough and contextual designs that respond to each project’s potential, and are innovative in relation to fundamental rules of sustainability. Briggs has four sons, and lives in Asheville with his youngest son, Franc, and his family partner, Jenny Moore. He is involved with family and community, and founded the Asheville-Buncombe Youth Soccer Association. In addition to architectural design, his other art forms include urban farming and culinary talents, music, craft and visual arts
